Pejaten Village Mall, South Jakarta - a quick review;Pejaten Village Mall is located in Jl Warung Jati Barat No. 39, Jati Padang, Pasar Minggu, South Jakarta (same road as Ranch Market/Ace Hardware/Starbucks complex). It opened in December 2008. There are no designer shops here, which some maybe grateful for. Matahari, Electronic Solution, Gramedia and Hypermart are the anchor stores . In the basement is the supermarket which is great for household items; fruit, vegetables, meat and fish are not up to the high standards of Ranch Market and Kem Chicks though. I went to a great stationary store called Paperclip opposite the Hypermart, where I found some useful craft items. On the ground floor is Times bookstore, selling a good range of English titles for all ages. Body Shop, J.Co.Donuts are represented here. On the next floor there is a smallish children’s soft play area for those up to 12 years old, although I found it hard to imagine a 12 year old in there.......... The cost is 15,000 IDR / 30 minutes and you don’t need socks, I would take some though. On this floor is a good-sized Heritage outlet store with a nice scrapbooking concession just inside the entrance. Heritage is always worth a look around, good to see they are now nearer to Kemang! On the next floor up is a Toys City store, very useful for picking up those last minute presents. Likewise Matahari department store is worth a look. Gramedia is a not a large shop, therefore stocks a very limited selection of English titles. The stationary section is the usual standard though. On the top floor of Pejaten Village you will find the XXI Cineplex, again very handy for those of us living in the area. Otherwise there are sports shops, boutiques and sundry shoe and jewellery shops scattered around the mall. If you live in South Jakarta I would recommend this mall as a good alternative to the trek along Jl.Sudirman. It is a great place to keep in mind should you need a child’s birthday present, stationary or some donuts! This is a mall which doesn’t exhaust you after 30 minutes trekking around the corridors. Pop along and have a look! |
