If you have any further suggestions for this page please email us at info@familyguidetojakarta.web.id Pelabuhan Ratu4-5 hr drive from JakartaOcean Queen Resort This resort is a 17-km drive past Pulabuhan Ratu, located on beautiful unspoilt black volcanic sand beach with a smaller, more sheltered bay at one end. Accommodation is in a basic but clean beach or pool-facing beach house with ceiling fans, hot-water showers, outfitted kitchen with hotplate, small fridge/freezer, some utensils and an Aqua water dispenser. All cottages come with a house boy who will buy fresh fish or lobster to BBQ in the evenings. He will also prepare a bonfire on the beach, which you can enjoy from your own beach cabana. The resort has a good-sized swimming pool with a smaller children’s splash pool and plenty of trees to provide shade. The restaurant serves both Indonesian and Western food with good options for kids and adults alike. The staff are happy to arrange treks and walks to the hot springs and waterfall. We have also rented a traditional fishing boat and gone out snorkeling and exploring the coastline. The staff will also give you direction for a trip across the bay to view turtles laying eggs (depending on the season) at Batu Besar Losmen in Ujung Genteng. For older children, there is a class 3 river rapid excursion that we have enjoyed several times. Cisolok, Pelabuhan Ratu Kuda Laut This resort is a five-minute drive from the popular Ocean Queen Resort above. It is a smaller low-key resort with fewer facilities but more chic accommodations. It has a very chilled-out atmosphere with lovely gardens and lounging areas. The resort is designed with a lot of bamboo bridges placed over streams connecting each villa. The resort has a swimming pool, but with a rather deep shallow area, not suitable for non-swimmers. Restaurant has great food, especially its apple pie. Cibangan, Pulabuhan Ratu Tanjung Lesung3-4 hr drive from Jakarta Tanjung Lesung Resort Hotel This resort is located in the remote southwestern corner of Java by the white-sand beaches and crystal-clear sea of Tanjung Lesung. For those who appreciate an unspoiled location, this 4-star resort with its pristine setting won’t disappoint. The hotel offers one-, two-, and four-bedroom cottages, with the larger-sized cottages being best for young families. The décor is simple but clean and adequate. The pool is gorgeous and overlooks the small sandy beach (great for shell hunting and sand castles). The surf is very gentle in dry season and the waters clear. The hotel has a playground and a fantastic kids club with arts and crafts, games and toys suited for children under 7 and is open from 09:00am -17:00pm. At the Kul-kul hut, you can hire bikes to cycle around the resort or organize pony, horse, and delman rides. For the more adventurous, there are jet skis, trips to Krakatoa, and Ujung Kulon. The property also has a great spa near the reception. The ‘a la carte’ food wasn’t great, but the buffets were better. Tanjung Lesung Resort Hotel, Pandeglang Tanjung Lesung Sailing Club This club is 9 years old and is currently owned and operated by a European who lives adjacent to the club. Thirteen simple one- and two-bedroom cottages are available with only two being air-conditioned. Bedrooms can have extra beds made up and all have mosquito netting at your request. Recently the club has been rebuilt to a much higher standard than before. There are many activities including sailing and sailing instruction, canoeing, cycling, mountain biking, trekking/walking/jogging, swimming, fishing, shellcollecting and mini soccer and hand ball. There is no swimming pool at the club but the sea was crystal clear – unpolluted, no surf, and free of vendors. My children and husband played for hours in the warm calm sea. Staff will organize and book first-rate speed boat trips to Krakatoa or other small island tours for snorkeling and fishing. The restaurant has two chefs in attendance at all times, and the menu consists of Western as well as Indonesian dishes. Fish caught daily in the bay is a delicious specialty and the staff will do a great BBQ for you and the family. The sailing club will also organize an “outward bound” experience from 2-4 nights for groups of up to 60. Such programs include accommodation, food, activities, raft building, rope climbing, kayaking, mountain biking, hiking and more. Read about one family's experience here. Tanjung Lesung, Pandeglang 42281 Sambolo Beach Bungalows Sambolo Beach Bungalows are located on one of Banten’s most beautiful beige sand beach, in a small cove looking Krakatau volcano. The gently curving 400 meter beach, offers safe swimming, shady trees, grass-roofed bungalows and gentle sea breezes. The comfortably furnished beachfront bungalows are constructed of Borneo hardwood and are fan-cooled with 3 or 4 bedrooms, basic kitchens and outdoor BBQs. 3 bedroom bungalows sleep 7 to 8 people (one room bunkbeds) while the 4 bedroom bungalows sleep 9 to 10 people. Each bungalow comes with a houseboy who will get basic supplies for you as needed and also go to the fish market and barbecue for you as and when you want to, you will need to give him the money for this and pay him a generous tip on your departure. Please note basic dishes, cutlery, pots and pans are provided but personal items such as towels are not supplied. EEC Building, Jl. S. The rooms are standard and clean and the food is average in quality. The restaurant has a nice view over the lake. Jl. Raya Bogor, Sukabumi km 21, Bogor 16740 Novotel Coralia Bogor The hotel is great as a base for trips to Taman Safari or for weekend golf excursions. Hotel has a nice swimming pool with a good kids‘ pool. The hotel has a kids‘ club designed for children ages 6-12 years. There are several great golf courses near to the hotel, and staff will help you to organize trips around Bogor and a tea plantation tour. Golf Estate Bogor Raya, Bogor 16710 Bandung2.5 hr drive from Jakarta or accessible by train Hotel Malya The Malya sits on the edge of a beautiful green valley and has a decent spa and infinity pool, (no children’s pool but the steps are great for learners). Afternoon Sundanese style tea is available daily in the lobby and horses often gather out front for short rides through the leafy neighborhood. It’s a reasonable day trip from here to hike the nearby volcano, Tangkuban Perahu, or to visit the Sudanese music show at Sanung Anglung Udjo. This hotel is also a great location to start your outlet shopping in the city. There is no kids club at this hotel but good kids‘ menu and very inventive pizzas available from the restaurant. Recommended Restaurant near to Hotel Malya - The Valley Restaurant, Jl. Lembah Pakar 28, Dago Sheraton Hotel Bandung The hotel is very comfortable and extremely family friendly. The kids had fun playing on the soccer pitch and swimming in the pool. For the younger children there is a playground and a supervised kids‘ club. The staff at the hotel will point you in the right direction for day trips in and around Bandung and the concierge will give you a handy map for the endless outlet shopping available. A highlight in Bandung area is a dormant volcano, Tangkuban Perahu, about an hour‘s drive from the city. It is a must-see as the size of the crater is truly breathtaking. Jl. Ir. H.
