Special Education Needs

BrainFit Studio - Generous Sponsor of Family Guide to Jakarta
Established in 2001, BrainFit Studio provides premium Brain Fitness Services. We work with students aged 4 to 18 years old. Our programmes sharpen motor coordination, visualising and listening skills, attention and memory, increases confidence. We also cater to students with special-needs. Our classes are held in groups of 4. One-on-one classes are also available. All classes are conducted in English or Bahasa Indonesia (based on students' needs).

To help parents select our programmes, we offer an initial assessment called 'CognitiveMap'. This is a set of international standardised tests that measures the student's brain abilities. 'CognitiveMap' is conducted on an 'one-on-one' basis. Prior appointments must be made.

Jakarta Learning Support Association:
A Support Group for Parents of Children with Learning Differences and Special Needs

The Jakarta Learning Support Association is a voluntary association of parents of children with learning difficulties, ADD/ADHD, or other special educational needs. It is open to all nationalities of parents of children from schools in and around Jakarta, as well as home schoolers. The aim of the group is to provide support and information to one another through sharing of experiences and resources related to learning differences and special needs. They meet once or twice a month in members’ homes. One meeting a month is on a weekday morning and takes a support group format with members sharing information and experiences informally. This session is intended only for parents of children with special educational needs currently in school. Also about once a month, an evening session is arranged, which includes a presentation on a topic of interest related to special needs/learning differences. These sessions are open to other interested persons such as teachers and school administrators, therapists and other practitioners.

They maintain a current resource list of private tutors, therapists, such as speech and occupational, reading specialists in Jakarta and the region as well as schools offering special needs services. If you have any of the aforementioned skills you would be willing to share, they would also like to hear from you.
