Lollipops Playland & Cafe - Gandaria City Mall

Gandaria City Shopping Mall in South Jakarta opened late last year and now hosts what I believe to be a “new and improved” Lollipops Indoor play centre.

We have now visited Lollipops at Gandaria three times with a variety of children aged from 2 – 11 years.

On arrival, the checking in routine is the same as Lollipops Senayan City and the prices are the same with one price scaling for schooldays and another for weekends/public holidays. I noted they were very strict about letting children leave the facility without being properly “checked out” and having their security arm band removed which was good to see.

Once inside – the immediate difference to the Senayan City venue is the spacious feel to the playground. Although all indoors the centre has an extremely high ceiling which houses four suspended obstacle courses/flying foxes that all of the children absolutely loved. The children wear safety harnesses and helmets and the suspended trails were very well supervised. All 4 courses have been available to the children on each one of our visits. The “above ground” adventure aspect was the biggest hit with the children old enough to use it! The older children were also impressed with the pedal car track – which although small in circumference, seemed to occupy them for a long time.

There is a large multi leveled climbing/soft play jungle gym which was great fun for all aged children. There are also longer and steeper slides in this Lollipops and two jumping castles – one accommodating younger children only.

The toddlers are well catered for in a fenced off area for children under 3 years old only and this houses a jumping castle and several spinning rides.

Four Wii units were operational as well as air hockey tables and a “bucking bronco” ride (although this has not been there on all visits).

There is a small hydroponic garden set up on the verandah where the children can pot their own plants. The verandah also houses a game where the winner gets to take home goldfish in a bag – so be wary of that one!!

There are of course the usual Party Rooms available for rent and there are 2 separate seating areas for parents, one in dining room style and the other has a number of large colourful bench seats and tables – very comfortable for passing the time! The menu provides a good selection of Asian and Western food and the coffee was ok. The children were very happy to find candyfloss being freshly made and available for sale!

Apart from the ever present annoying “kindergarten” soundtrack that Lollipops insist on playing, it is a very pleasant way to spend some time and a great way to occupy both older and younger children.

DON'T FORGET TO TAKE SOCKS!
